News & Greetings
Hello HKSA! Hope everyone is surviving dead week. Tired of school? Well too bad, it’s only the first quarter of the school year, better suck it up and keep the momentum going! 🙂 Good news is, by this time next week, we will all be FREE! (Well, for two weeks at least.)
HKSA would like to thank everyone for your support this quarter. Hope you all had a chance to participate in some of our events. If not, definitely look forward to our future events, we have a lot in store for everyone! If you have any comments, questions, or suggestions on how we can improve, please don’t hesitate to let us know!
Academic and Career Night
The HKSA Academic and Career Night took place on November 16th. We would like to thank all of the guest speakers for taking some time off to share their ‘real world’ experiences with us, and hope everyone that came found the event helpful!
ASC Epic Rice Night
ASUW Asian Student Commission’s first major event of the quarter, ASC Epic Rice Night, took place on November 18th. HKSA was one of the eight teams that participated in the friendly competition. Although we did not win at the end, we would still like to thank our awesome head chef Fortune and assistant chefs Hins and Mavis for their hard work. It was a really fun event!
Thanksgiving Hot Pot
On November 23rd, officers and members from HKSA and CSA (Chinese Student Association) enjoyed some delicious hot pot at LA Cafe in Chinatown, our way of celebrating Thanksgiving! We were really happy to see a full house and hope everyone had a good time eating hot pot and singing karaoke!
Thrid Annual Healthy Holidays Festival
On Saturday, December 3rd, a group of our officers volunteered at the Third Annual Healthy Holidays Festival presented by the Community Health Plan of Washington at the Asian Resource Center in Chinatown. It was a long day of work, but we all had a great time hanging out and meeting new people. Thank you Adrian, Henry Chan, Henry Leung, Janice, Jonathan, Karen, Kelvin, Lucy, Stephanie, and Wyndi! Because HKSA cares about the community.
SingCon 2012 — Time to get ready!
For those of you that don’t know what SingCon is, it is a singing competition run by us, HKSA. It is our biggest event of the year and usually takes place in the spring. Every year, we attract students from all around the greater Seattle area to compete in this event, one of the most prestigious singing competitions in the area.
In spring 2011, we invited 閻奕格 (Janice Yan, from the hit Taiwanese TV show Super Star Avenue, 超級星光大道) to perform at the event, which attracted over 700 in attendance.
Next year, we are going to make it even bigger and better, this is THE event you will not want to miss out on! And if you think you’ve got the skills and the charisma, the auditions for SingCon 2012 will take place at the end of January, so be ready!!

Last but not least, let’s congratulate our boy Henry Chan for winning second place in TSA Idol on December 4th! Good job Henry, you made us proud!
Once again, thank you everyone for a wonderful quarter. Good luck on finals, have a great winter break, and happy holidays! 🙂
